In the middle of the night, the phone rings. He answers it. I can hear him say, *I'll call the families.*
I asked him what it was. He told me to go back to sleep. I did.
They are waking me ... Him, the mid-wife and nurses are gathered around. They are telling me that we need to get to the other hospital quickly. Chelsea is dying.
I was given a lower dose of pain medication so as not to knock me out.
The mid-wife rode with me in the ambulance. She has been such a comfort for me.
The ride was horrible! The roads were bumpy. All the jarring around caused so much pain.
When we arrive at the hospital, I was taken to a room to have my vitals checked. From there, I was taken to the NICU to be with my sweet baby, Chelsea.
My mind and body were at war with the effects of the pain medications.
I kept telling myself - FOCUS! REMEMBER!
